Hot Radio is back broadcasting on the ill-fated 99.1 transmitter belonging to Glenn Kelly. This follows on-air announcements from ESG FM last night that they would no longer be using the frequency.

NEAR FM and FM104 have had their stolen equipment recovered by police after official pirate radio detection experts managed to locate station broadcasts in Rathfarnham. Other equipment relating to recent thefts at East Coast Radio and CKR FM was also discovered.

Radio Caroline Dublin are back on air from this evening on 102.6MHz without live programming or station idents.

DMR FM are running a looped announcement in stereo on 93.2MHz. The announcement states "Frequency check 93.2FM - 1.5kw of power on 93.2. You've got Dublin's Dance Music Radio - DMR FM, broadcasting soon. Stay tuned for more details. Launching soon"

NEAR FM are back on air on 101.6MHz with a new tower and RDS restored to NEAR--FM.

DMR FM - who recently broadcast tests under the name Fantasy FM on 106.9MHz - will start an automated service from Monday on 93.2MHz. Station power is currently low (140watt ERP) due to proximity of Raidió na Gaeltachta but will be gradually increased to full power by the time the station launches which will be mid-September at the earliest.

Magic 105, Kiss 106 and Energy 106 face the threat of raids following recent correspondence between Jim Rodgers of the UUP in Northern Ireland and An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, whose reply stated that it is an urgent priority to have the stations raided.

Dublin's 98FM have given their website a facelift. The new-look version is available at the same address: 98fm.ie

Gold FM, which broadcasts on frequencies 87.6MHz and 94.3MHz on weekends now have their own dedicated RDS which reads 'G O L D '.

Nova Dance, who are under new management, have now relocated to a new studio in a city centre location. Nova Dance broadcast to Dublin on 94.7MHz.

Radio Caroline Dublin are off air again but with a blank carrier on 102.6MHz.

Mad Radio will broadcast from 101.8MHz using 5-10 watts until the current confusion over 93.2MHz is resolved.

The Irish Mix was off air today on its Dublin 90.3MHz frequency.

Atlantic 252 - the Long Wave station broadcasting to the UK and Ireland - have put up a temporary page at their website where listeners can tune in on the internet. Atlantic's website is due for a full launch at the beginning of October. The address is www.atlantic252.com.

Radio Caroline Dublin hope to return to the airwaves from the middle of next week. Forced to stop broadcasting after complaints made to the ODTR by Lite FM, Radio Caroline returned to 102.6MHz last week only to suffer link problems which they are presently working on.

ABC 94FM has returned to the airwaves on their usual 94.3MHz plus the 87.6MHz frequency usually occupied by Beat/Gold. RDS is restored to ABC 94FM and not 94.3 MHZ as it was for a few days before they went off air in early July.

BBC Radio 1's sentimental feature "Our Tune" will be on TV on Sky One from next month. Simon Bates - the man who made it a 'must-weep' feature for millions of listeners - will present.

Radio London continue their 28 day RSL service with a 33rd anniversary special tomorrow to mark the day they closed. Highlight of the day's special programming will be a rebroadcast of the final 2 hours from 1pm UK time. Those who cannot receive the broadcasts off air can tune in via the Big L website at www.bigl.co.uk which is worth a visit anyway!

ESG FM were off air most of this afternoon on 94.1MHz for technical adjustments.

Energy 106 is being jammed in Belfast by a pirate operator who is running copied Energy material and using a fake american accent. The jamming commenced this afternoon and Energy have reported the jamming to the Radio Communications Agency. Lawrence John has stated that he is willing to pay for any services which leads to the tracking down of the jammer.

Chris Cary has had a severe stroke and is presently in hospital in the Isle of Wight. The incident happened over three weeks ago but the chriscary.com site was updated today for the first time since it happened. Chris' application for parole was also heard last Wednesday but failed.

Mad FM are back on 93.2MHz broadcasting to Dublin's city centre. The station had moved to 101.8MHz but interference to NEAR FM meant transmissions had to cease.

Hot Radio were off air most of today on both their frequencies as was ABC 94FM on 94.3MHz and 87.6MHz. Both stations reappeared later in the day.

Radio Caroline launched her full-time internet broadcasts today with a special broadcast on medium wave and shortwave as well as the regular Astra 19E broadcast. The site to go to to access Caroline on the web is radio-caroline.nl.

Passion FM went off air today around lunchtime but were back on within a couple of hours. Passion FM can be found on 103.7MHz in Dublin and 105.2MHz in Wicklow.

FM104's R&B specialist Tony Dixon was attacked at the weekend in a pub in Castleknock. He was 15 minutes into his set when he was struck over the head with a bottle by a man who had repeatedly requested songs which the he refused to play. The attack has left the dj badly scarred.

RTÉ Radio, Today FM and just about every other station in the country are claiming that more and more people are tuning their way. It can only mean today's release of the JNLR figures covering the period July 99 - June 2000. Countrywide, yesterday RTÉ Radio 1 are getting 30%, 2FM 28% and Today FM 14%. In Dublin RTÉ Radio 1 are pulling in 40% of listeners with 16% each for 2FM, FM104 and 98FM. Overall the RTÉ stations are getting a 49% share and the independents 51%.

*Comment: Such a shame that the pirates aren't included. It would be nice to have a true reflection of who's listening to what and it might also put an end to the whole ESG v Hot debate currently boring everyone to tears on bulletin boards.*

Radio Caroline Dublin have reintroduced live programming after a long absence with BBC Five Live being relayed during downtime on a temporary basis. They can be found by tuning to 102.6MHz.

ABC 94FM were off air yet again today up until evening time. Broadcasts on both 94.3MHz and 87.6MHz have been missing for the last three weekdays, reappearing in the evenings, and it is unclear whether this is for routine maintenance or that there are problems at the station. A blank carrier has also been heard on 1593kHz, the frequency for the by now long overdue mw station planned by ABC, but again, whether this is related is unclear.

RTÉ Radio 1 plan to broadcast reenactments of tribunals as a stand-alone programme in their peak evening slot. Proving very popular with listeners, reenactments have already featured as part of the channel's 7pm show "Tonight With Vincent Browne" but this programme will no longer be a part of radio schedules as its host is moving to television.

*Comment: Any truth in the rumour that Larry Hagman as JR Ewing will play the part of Mr Haughey when it all resumes. Surely JR couldn't fill Charlie's boots!*

Test-tones have been transmitted this evening on 1593kHz medium wave with the signal strongest in North Cavan close to the Co Cavan - Co Fermanagh border. Blank carriers have also been monitored on this frequency on a number of occasions in the past week.

BBC Radio 1's Simon Mayo show can once again be heard on Dublin's FM band courtesy of Freedom 92FM. In addition to Radio 1's breakfast show, Freedom have extended relays of the UK national pop channel until 12 midday.

*Comment: Love it or loathe it, Ireland's pop stations could learn a lot from BBC Radio 1.*

Dublin's FM band was very bare this afternoon with a whole host of stations off the air from about 1.30pm mainly due to power cuts at their transmitter site caused by adverse weather conditions. Amongst those off air were K.I.C. FM, Radio Dublin, Power FM, Radio Caroline Dublin, Kiss FM, Mater Hospital Radio and DMR FM. Some stations were still on but not on all frequencies - ESG were off on 94.1, Hot Radio were off on 99.1, LMFM were off on 95.5 and East Coast Radio were off on 94.9. CKR were also off air on 97.6MHz. Stations started reappearing from about 5pm.

ABC 94FM are no longer on 87.6MHz which is now home to a looping announcement stating "24 hours a day - this is Eighty-Seven Six" and also "Eighty-Seven Six FM - the sound of Eighty-Seven Six".

Radio Caroline are considering the possibility of running full-time broadcasts on 1296kHz as a result of the major success of last weekend's one day broadcast. However, financial considerations may scupper any such plans. Meanwhile, Caroline's full-time net broadcasts which consist of some specially recorded programmes; repeated programming from their weekend Astra broadcasts and continuous album music are now up and running.

Comment: Despite the fact that we wouldn't receive the broadcasts in Ireland, the notion of Caroline on am full-time is overwhelming.

East Coast Radio's 94.9MHz transmitter is broadcasting again. Transmissions ceased on this frequency during the dire weather conditions last Friday but have recommenced albeit with a few teething problems. The station can also be received on 96.2MHz and 102.9MHz.

*Comment: They'll remember this 'Summer in Dublin' (of course they're based in Wicklow but there hasn't been a song called 'Summer in Wicklow!)*

Passion FM will cease broadcasting at 7pm on Sunday evening with no plans to return. The station received a visit from two members of the ODTR today who also visited both of their transmitter sites in Wicklow before they requested the station to stop broadcasting or face 2 years in jail and/or a £20,000 fine.
